Who are we?

Established in 2014 by Refik Anadol (b. 1985, Istanbul, Turkey), a pioneer in the aesthetics of data and machine intelligence, Los Angeles-based Refik Anadol Studio produces enthralling and immersive media art intended for anyone, any age and any background. The award-winning studio has been engaged by leading tech companies, groundbreaking researchers and cutting-edge thought leaders to produce projects that have been shown in over 50 cities, spanning six continents, and experienced by millions of ardent fans.

Refik Anadol Studio comprises artists, architects, data scientists, and researchers from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, embracing principles of inclusion and equity throughout every stage of production. Studio members originate from 10 different countries and are collectively fluent in 14 languages.

What do we do?

The studio’s body of work locates creativity at the intersection of humans and machines. In taking the data that flows around us as the primary material and the neural network of a computerized mind as a collaborator, Anadol and his team paint with a thinking brush, offering us radical visualizations of our digitized memories and expanding the possibilities of architecture, narrative, and the body in motion. The site-specific AI data sculptures, live audio/visual performances, immersive installations, and NFTs take many forms, while encouraging us to rethink our engagement with the world, its temporal and spatial dimensions, and the creative potential of machines.

What is RAS?

RAS stands for Refik Anadol Studio.

Where can I see a Refik Anadol artwork today?

Although our work mostly lives in the digital space, we have a variety of physical exhibitions and installations around the world that you are welcome to visit. Please find a list of our currently active installations and exhibitions below.

How do I collect RAS artwork?

You may purchase our NFTs, which you can find in the #official_links channel in our Discord server or contact nft@refikanadolstudio.com regarding physical sales.

Do your NFTs offer any utility?

The most important utility of our NFTs is the artwork itself. In addition, our NFTs currently offer burn mechanics, a token for our metaverse project in progress—DATALAND, and physical prints.

Burn Mechanics

What is a burn?

In cryptocurrency and NFTs, a burn refers to the destruction or removal of tokens. This is generally done by sending tokens to a “dead” address.

What are your burn mechanics?

In order to get one 15-second moving piece, you will need to burn any 3 stills from the same collection. You may burn many sets of 3 stills for longer moving pieces. For example, 3 stills → 15s, 6 stills → 30s, 9 stills → 45s, etc. These mechanics may change. 

Which NFTs can be burned?

We are working on developing burn mechanics for all of our collections. The first planned burn is for Machine Hallucinations–NYC and will likely take place in April 2022.

Can I mix and match different NFT collections for the burn?

No. The pieces you burn must be from the same collection.

DATALAND & DATALAND Tokens

What is DATALAND?

DATALAND is the world’s first multi-sensory metaverse project being developed by RAS. DATALAND marks a turning point in the data and AI aesthetics at the convergence of cutting-edge neuroscientific experiments and virtually enhanced physical reality.

What are DATALAND tokens?

DATALAND tokens will be the keys to our metaverse experience. Different NFT collections will have different tokens, and different tokens will unlock different experiences in DATALAND.

How do I get DATALAND tokens?

If you own RAS NFTs at the time of the DATALAND snapshot, you will get tokens.

When will the DATALAND snapshot be?

TBA.

What form will the DATALAND token be?

Most likely an NFT.

Physical Prints & Shipments

What are physical prints?

As a Studio, we care deeply about merging the digital world with our physical environments. Therefore, most collections involve offering physical prints of our NFTs to their collectors.

How do I qualify for physical prints?

Each NFT drop has different mechanics for receiving physical prints. Please see the table below for details.

I purchased an NFT from the secondary market after the snapshot date. Can I still receive a print?

Any collector who purchases an NFT from the secondary market is required to negotiate the physical print directly with the seller.

Will you help me negotiate with the seller?

No. We respect privacy and cannot help.

Will you print another edition for me?

No. To celebrate the uniqueness of each artwork, we will only print 1 edition.

When will I receive my physical print?

You will receive an email notification with tracking when your physical print ships.

I am having issues with physical prints. What should I do?

When do you host AMAs?

We host AMAs on Zoom periodically. Although there is no set schedule, we aim for at least once per month. We love our community and this is our way to connect and share as much as possible.

How do I enter giveaways?

Please enter your Ethereum address at the end of the AMA. Spamming or submitting multiple wallets will result in a ban from the giveaway.
